Musescore works with hundreds of individual music publishers that have the right to publish a large number of works on Musescore.com.

In many cases, a specific work is licensed only for a specific case or type of arrangement (ex: original vs. derivative work vs. medley, etc.). It is up to the rights holder or publisher to make the determination of why some versions of a work are acceptable while others are not.
